Digital Marketing + Content

A Series A SaaS platform with a great product, invisible online — and a competitor set that had owned the search landscape for years.

The engagement

Clearfield had been operating for three years with almost no organic search presence. Their competitors had years of SEO-optimised content and strong domain authority. The conventional response — "publish more content" — would have taken 18 months to show results and cost more than they had budgeted.

We started with a full AI-assisted gap analysis: mapping every keyword their top five competitors ranked for, identifying the high-intent, lower-competition terms their category had overlooked, and building a content architecture around the topics where first-page ranking was achievable within a six-month window. The strategy was built on what was winnable, not on what looked impressive in a deck.

Content production ran on our AI-assisted workflow — AI for research, structure, and first drafts, senior editors for accuracy, voice, and strategic alignment. Forty pieces of content in six months. Each piece built around a specific search intent, properly interlinked, and tracked from day one. Within the first six months, Clearfield ranked on page one for 23 target keywords and organic became a meaningful lead source for the first time. Adjacent now handles their ongoing content programme on a monthly retainer.

What we delivered

  • Full SEO gap & competitor analysis
  • Keyword strategy & content architecture
  • 40 SEO articles (months 1–6)
  • On-page optimisation
  • Internal linking structure
  • Monthly reporting & iteration

Where AI made the difference

Competitor keyword mapping and gap analysis that would traditionally take 3 weeks took 2 days. That meant we entered the strategy session with the full picture already built — and the client's budget went on content and execution, not discovery. Content production ran at 3× the speed of a traditional editorial workflow, with no reduction in quality.

"We'd been told SEO would take years. Adjacent gave us a strategy built around what was actually achievable and delivered it. Within six months, organic was generating leads for the first time. We renewed without hesitation."

02
Digital Marketing + Web

A consumer brand with a real launch date, a category full of sameness, and no time for a traditional agency timeline.

The engagement

The founders of Kelso had spent a year developing their product and had a retailer ready to list them — contingent on a credible digital presence. They had six weeks. A traditional brand and web agency would have told them that was impossible. We didn't.

We ran our AI-assisted competitive positioning process across their category in 48 hours — mapping what every major competitor said, how they said it, who they were targeting, and where the unclaimed positioning space was. The insight: almost nobody in the category was speaking to the customer who'd already adopted the lifestyle, rather than the one aspiring to it. Kelso's product was genuinely for the former. The positioning wrote itself from there.

Identity, website, copy, and a launch content plan were developed in parallel rather than sequentially — possible because the strategic brief was so clear. The site launched in week five, with a week to spare. The retailer listed them.

What we delivered

  • Competitive positioning analysis
  • Visual identity
  • Website (design + build)
  • Website copy
  • SEO foundations
  • Launch content plan

Where AI made the difference

Competitive landscape analysis and positioning research that traditionally anchors a 3-week discovery phase took 48 hours. That compression is what made the 6-week timeline viable — and meant the strategic foundation was actually stronger, not weaker, than in a longer traditional process.

"Six weeks for brand, site, and a launch campaign sounded impossible. Adjacent made it feel completely manageable — and the thinking behind it was sharper than anything we'd seen from agencies promising three-month timelines."

Creative Recruitment

Seven months of searching through traditional channels. The right Creative Director found in eleven weeks.

The engagement

A mid-size independent agency had been looking for a new Creative Director for seven months. They'd worked with two recruiters and seen plenty of candidates. The problem was consistent: strong creative track records with no commercial instinct, or the reverse. Nobody who was clearly both.

When they came to Adjacent, we started by questioning the brief. After conversations with the CEO and two existing clients, it became clear the role needed someone who could hold a room with clients and then go back and push the creative team harder. That's a specific profile — and it isn't in the brief that gets posted on job boards.

Our AI-assisted candidate mapping covered 400+ eligible candidates across LinkedIn, portfolio platforms, industry publications, and award shortlists in four days. A traditional search would have taken three weeks to reach the same coverage. We identified twelve candidates who matched the revised profile. The CEO interviewed four. One was hired — and has since been described as the best hire the agency has ever made.

What we delivered

  • Role brief development
  • Full market mapping
  • Candidate assessment
  • Shortlist of 4 candidates
  • Interview process design
  • Offer & onboarding support

Where AI made the difference

Market mapping across 400+ candidates — work that takes 3 weeks manually — took 4 days. Our senior consultants spent their time on assessment, conversations, and judgment: the part of recruitment that actually requires a human. The shortlist was sharper as a result, and the process moved twice as fast as the client's previous searches.

"Seven months of searching ourselves, then Adjacent placed the right person in eleven weeks. What made it different was that they actually understood what 'great creative leadership' looks like. They do the work themselves — it showed."

Web + CRO + Content

The website wasn't the problem. Nobody could explain what the firm actually did — and the site faithfully reproduced that confusion.

The engagement

Heronfield Advisory came to us with a website redesign brief. Their site was dated — but that was the symptom, not the cause. Their messaging was so carefully hedged and so studiously vague that a first-time visitor couldn't have told you what made them different from any other advisory firm. Redesigning the site around broken messaging would have produced a better-looking version of the same problem.

We ran an AI-assisted competitor messaging analysis across twelve comparable firms in two days — identifying the specific claims, language patterns, and positioning angles that were oversaturated, and the genuine differentiation that Heronfield had never found a way to say clearly. Armed with that, we developed a new messaging architecture before we touched a design tool.

The rebuilt site is cleaner and faster — but the real change is in how precisely it communicates. Enquiry rates increased meaningfully within the first quarter, without any change to their marketing spend. Heronfield now works with Adjacent on a quarterly content retainer.

What we delivered

  • Competitor messaging analysis
  • Messaging architecture
  • UX & information design
  • Website design & build
  • Full website copy
  • Quarterly content retainer

Where AI made the difference

Messaging analysis across 12 competitors — including semantic analysis of the language patterns, claims, and positioning angles they used — took 2 days rather than 2 weeks. We went into the strategy session knowing exactly what the market was saying and where the genuine gap was. The brief was sharper, the copy was more specific, and the whole project ran in 5 weeks instead of the 10–12 a traditional agency would have quoted.

"We thought we needed a new website. What we actually needed was someone to force us to say what we meant. Adjacent did both — and the order they did it in was everything."

05
Content + SEO

A content programme that needed to produce at agency scale, on an in-house budget — without the quality dropping.

The engagement

A professional services group had tried running content in-house, then with a freelancer network, then with a mid-size content agency. The results were the same each time: quality or volume, never both. The agency charged for a team of eight to produce thirty pieces a month. The in-house team produced ten good pieces and then ran out of time. They needed a different model.

Adjacent's AI-assisted content workflow is that model. AI handles topic research, search intent mapping, structural outlines, and first-pass drafts. Senior editors handle brand voice, accuracy, strategic alignment, and final quality control. The workflow produces forty or more pieces per month — properly optimised, properly edited, properly on-brief — at a cost comparable to what the client had been paying for ten.

We began with a full content audit and SEO gap analysis, built a topic architecture mapped to their buyer journey, and established a brand voice framework their internal team could also use. Eighteen months in, organic search is their largest inbound channel. The programme is still running.

What we delivered

  • Content audit & gap analysis
  • SEO topic architecture
  • Brand voice framework
  • 40+ pieces per month (ongoing)
  • Monthly performance reporting
  • Quarterly strategy reviews

Where AI made the difference

This programme would require a team of six or seven writers working traditionally. AI handles research, first drafts, and SEO structuring; our senior editors handle the judgment, voice, and quality that makes content actually useful. The client gets the output of a large team at a fraction of the cost — and the quality is higher because experienced people are spending their time on what experienced people are for.

"We'd been trying to solve the content problem for two years. Every solution was either good but slow, or fast but forgettable. Adjacent changed the economics of what was possible — and the content is the best we've ever published."

Project-based or retainer. Most retainer clients stay for years. Not because they're locked in — because the work keeps delivering.

Happy to connect you with past clients before you commit. It's a reasonable thing to ask and we encourage it.

Typical timelines

Most projects run 2–8 weeks, not 3–6 months. AI compression means we don't need the runway traditional agencies build in.

Starting a conversation

A brief if you have one. A problem if you don't. We'll tell you honestly what makes sense and what doesn't.

Seen enough to talk?

Most of our best engagements started with a 20-minute call. No pitch, no deck — just a conversation about what you're trying to do.
